Web Development
Dynamic websites with brains as well as beauty.
Most modern websites need more than a great look and feel to lift them off the ground. At root solutions, we use a variety of web technologies (new and old) to give your website brains as well as beauty.
Techie Talk
Here’s a brief run down on the stuff we love.
ASP and .NET
We use ASP. Although it’s been around for some time, it works well, and we like that. As you can see from this site which was built in it, ASP can still pack a good punch.
MySQL Databases
Databases can unlock a massive amount of power for your website. We’ll work with pretty much any database platform out there, but we love MySQL: It’s powerful, reliable and, best of all, it’s free!
PHP
The open source community is thriving at the moment and PHP is one of the longest standing and successful technologies to come out of it. We’ve worked with PHP for many of our clients and believe it’s got a lot to offer.
Ruby on Rails
This is a new, exciting web technology, which is making a lot of noise in the web community. We‘re particularly interested in rails migrations, and this has an active role in all of our larger projects.
Databases
We have a wide knowledge of databases – and have quite an affection for them. At the moment we’ve done work with Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL, but we‘re more than happy to work with other platforms too.
CSS
All of our sites are built with standards compliant CSS. This is the language used to lay out and style the look and feel of your website. It’s great and we love it.
Javascript
Javascript is a fantastic language when used in the right way, and we ensure that all the Javascript used on our products does not prohibit site accessibility.
AJAX for Web 2.0
Want your site to have some added punch? Why not throw in a 3 ounces of AJAX. We’ve got experience working with DOM Scripting and XMLHttp, two of the fundamental ingredients of AJAX.
Flash
Want streamed video, animations or games adding to your site? Then flash is the answer. Simon and Stacey have spent many years working with flash, in all of it’s flavours.
Windows 2000 / 2003 Servers
We’ve worked with windows servers for many years and recommend all of our clients use them. Having said that, we‘re perfectly happy working with Linux, Unix or Mac OS X – in fact, Simon and Stacey are both avid Mac users.
So why don’t you drop us a line to find out more?
